56% Of Nigerians Don’t Have Bank Accounts – 9mobile CEO

The Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN) has granted payment services banking licenses to 9mobile Communications and two others Fintech companies. 

This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Chief executive officer of 9mobile,  Mr. Allen Sinfield, who was a keynotes speaker at a Virtual Economic Summit organized by Ecobank and Vanguard Newspapers. 

Speaking on the theme, “Mobile Payment innovation and Closing the Digital Financial Inclusion Gap, Post COVID-19”, Sinfield said the apex bank has granted PSB licenses to 9mobile and two other companies in order to promote financial inclusion. 

“This is a platform  to providing stakeholders in the financial sector an opportunity on knowledge sharing for Fintech, telecoms and a wider economy. Financial inclusion has remained a critical goal in Nigeria because of its importance to the development of Nigeria. 

” Just for general awareness, as at September 2020, the Nigeria inter bank settlement system disclosed that 43.6 million adults have the bank verifications numbers. And data from the world population revealed that Nigeria adults population is at 100 million to be eligible for banking services
