Reno Omokri, a former aide to the former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has told President Muhammadu Buhari to attract investors in Nigeria instead of chasing after them.
He was reacting to the recent resumed trip by the President of Nigeria who departed for Amman to honour an invitation by King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan.
Omokri in his statement said investors were afraid to come to Nigeria after the way the Presidency dealt with the mobile giant, MTN and Proter and Gamble (P&G)
The tweet reads ” Someone please tell President Muhammadu Buhari that searching for investors is like chasing shadows. It is fruitless. If you want investors, you have to ATTRACT them. End economic flip flops, and investors will come. No investor will come after what you did to MTN Nigeria and Procter and Gamble (P & G)”
Buhari’s special adviser on Media and Publicity Mr Femi Adesina had disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
The President was to participate in the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa holding at the Dead Sea, Jordan.
According to Adesina, the President was expected to depart Amman on Sunday for Dubai in the United ARab Emriates (UAE) to participate in the ninth edition of the Annual Investment Meeting scheduled for April 8-10, 2019.
According to the organisers, the meeting is “the largest gathering of corporate leaders, policymakers, businessmen, regional and international investors, entrepreneurs, leading academics and experts showcasing up-to-date information, strategies and knowledge on attracting FDI.”
The meeting seeks to explore investment opportunities in more than 140 countries, connect businesses and countries willing to engage in sustainable partnerships with investors.
The Nigeria President has departed for N’Djamena, Chad Republic this morning, Saturday 13th of April, 2019 to participate in the Extraordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States, CEN-SAD.
