The United Bank of Africa (UBA) is secretly retrenching staff across Nigeria, a source disclosed to NAIJA CENTER NEWS on Monday.

According to the information gathered, the Bank is expected to fire up to 500 staff.
The source also disclosed that many have been secretly fired so far and the staff are scared and angry over the sack as they are not given any reason for the development.
NAIJA CENTER NEWS gathered that the Bank is retrenching staff who have worked hard without promotion for many years, staff who are almost retiring and cashiers who are 40 years and above.
Two of those sacked last week have put in 33 years and 31 years in service and were supposed to retire at 35 years in service, and “One of the sacked cashiers spent 16 yrs in service without a single promotion” The source said.
Staff affected so far within a month are:
Ephraim Eleshi
Innocent Nweke
Amaechi Edeh
Leonard Nweke
Patrick Nwosisi
Chukwuma Eze
Fabian Nebo
Ngozi Eze
Ozioma Ezenwoye
Patrick Madueke
Among the names above, 8 are from Enugu branch while the remaining 2 were fired from Ebonyi branch in Ebonyi State.
