The governor said his hard work and commitment made him a billionaire, adding that he is a very rich person.

“I work very hard, I am not a poor person but a very, very rich person. You can’t use the state’s money and still do all these things (projects) we are doing, I don’t have any shop or any interest in the market,” he said.

He denied owning a shop at the market contrary to media reports.

Umahi told the traders that he had to rescind the decision on their relocations from the market because of the intervention of the Christians Association of Nigeria.

The governor said that CAN's intervention led to the delay, adding that the traders would be relcated on January 10, 2020, instead of October 15, 2019, earlier planned.

The governor told the traders that Abakpa market would now be called Ebonyi Fruits and Vegetable Market

“We presently have a special assistant on the market, the structures that are still strong are going to be renovated,” he said.

“The traders have two options: it is either you renovate it to our taste and become landlords or we do it on our own and you are no longer the landlord.”

“The same applies to such traders at the building materials market as we will enter into appearance with those who took us to court,” he added.

Early week, the Governor ordered his security aide to shoot anyone who would block his convoy.
