Safaricom Announces 11-hour System Maintenance

The East Africa Communication giant Safaricom has announced a planned system upgrade from Saturday, April 24 at 10 pm to Sunday, April 25 at 9 am.

During the system maintenance, SIM swap, all airtime top-up, tariff migration, and activation of new lines services will be unavailable to subscribers. 

In a statement released on Friday, April 23, 2021, the telco said the system upgrade is meant to increase its capacity in line with customer growth and support innovation to meet the different needs of its subscribers.

“The timing of the maintenance activity has been planned to result in the least of inconvenience to our customers,” read part of the notice.

All calls, M-Pesa, internet and data, and SMS services will not be affected during the duration of the maintenance, said the company.

At the same time, Safaricom apologized to its customers for any inconvenience that the exercise might cause.
