Professor Sunday Edeko of the law faculty of the institution stated that since the Edo state government has not faltered in its duties and responsibilities to the institution and that staff are not owed, it is not going to be in the interest of the students.

"Since I started my job, at Ambrose Alli University, the arrangement has been that a certain amount is contributed by the government while the balance is sourced from school fees."

Professor Edeko noted that AAU cannot afford to join ASUU in the one-month warning strike because the institution places greater value on the students. He opined that going on strike will have a negative impact on the students.

The scholar pleaded with ASUU, AAU chapter to rethink and desist from participating in the strike action which commenced on Monday. Going on strike, according to Prof Edeko, will also impact negatively the unity that exists within the union at the institution.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embarked on a one-month warning strike to press home demands regarding a 2011 agreement for funding, issues with the IPPS and full autonomy of Universities. The federal government has successfully dribbled past the union after several industrial actions. This latest action could be ASUU's final smackdown if it really means business.
