On Thursday, Health Chief Administrative Secretary, Dr Mercy Mwangangi, presented the CS Health Mutahi Kagwe at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) at Awendo Campus in Migori County, presided by the Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Following the devolution of health services, KMTC has taken deliberate efforts to decentralize its training by establishing Campuses in different counties.

“Expanding the training of more healthcare workers as we are doing here at Awendo Campus will ensure that our country has enough Human Resources for Health and some to export to other needy countries,” Dr Mwangangi said.

KMTC is one of the oldest and largest medical training colleges for training health professionals in Kenya and the larger East and Central African region.

The College is a strategic institution that contributes immensely towards bridging the Healthcare workforce gaps, hence propelling the country towards attaining specific Health-related targets, including the Universal Health Coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The College has released over 66,499 graduates to the job market since 2014 to bridge the Human Resource for Health gaps in the country and beyond.

It is set to release a further 5,150 fresh graduates into the health sector today during this year’s 90th Graduation Ceremony.
