Coronavirus Outbreak: FG Announces New Case of coronavirus in Ogun State

The Federal Government says a new case of Coronavirus disease has been discovered in Ogun State.

The new Outbreak brings to two, following the index case earlier recorded in the Country.


According to the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire who made the disclosure in Benin City while speaking to newsmen, Confirmed the incident but stated that it has no significant clinical symptoms.

Ehanire maintained that all other index cases in Ogun and Lagos states will remain in Isolation as testing will be carried out on those not yet tested.

According to Ehanire, "It is my duty, therefore, to announce a new case of coronavirus disease(COVID-19) in Nigeria. The newly Confirmed case is in Ogun State contact of the index case but has no significant Clinical Symptoms. That brings the total number of Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria today to Two".

He pledged that the Federal Government will continue to provide prompt and reliable updates and initiate all measures required to protect Nigerians.

On the issue of the Virus outbreak, making the rounds in Edo, Ehanire dismissed the insinuation, saying no case of coronavirus incident has been recorded despite fears allayed in some quarters.

He added, "we are not aware of any incident of coronavirus disease outbreak in Edo officially. For now, nothing like that has been recorded".

Since the beginning of the Outbreak in China and subsequent spread to other Countries, Ehanire noted that important response strategy at containment stage has been to identify all contacts was placed on Isolation as well as daily follow up with checks for any symptoms of the disease.
