31 people killed in Church Stampede in Port Harcourt

`Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the death of 31 people at a church event in Port Harcourt.

The 31 attendees died during an outreach programme organized by Kings Assembly on Saturday in Port Harcourt.

The Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the sad incident.

The PPRO said the Church is located in the GRA area of Port Harcourt.

The Church invited members of the public to the event and promised to share some gifts, including foodstuff.

Grace Iringe-Koko said the incident happened at Port Harcourt Polo Club, a bigger space to accommodate the anticipated crowd, including the underprivileged.

31 people died while they struggled to force their way into the arena.
