The suspects, identified as Agbe Simeon, Messiah Nicky, Oladapo Dolapo, and Yetunde Shonola, were apprehended in Orile Imo village in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.

According to the police, the victim and the suspects were part of an internet fraud group that had recently swindled an unknown individual out of a sum of 26,437,950 Nigerian naira (about $70,000).

When the victim only gave his colleagues a small and inconsequential portion of the money, claiming that it had not been paid in full by their client, they reportedly took him hostage, in an herbalist's home and threatened to kill him if he did not give them their share.

The police were alerted to the situation and were able to rescue the victim and arrest four of the abductors while the remaining suspects fled.
