7-year-old suicide bomber kills prof, others at University of Maiduguri

Four people were killed and over 17 injured when suicide bombers attacked two mosques in the University of Maiduguri on Monday.

The incident occurred around 5am during Subhi prayers.

Bauchi Bomb ExplosionA test message from the spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, AbdulKadir Ibrahim confirming the incident said, “Twin Blast from suicide bombers reported at University of Maiduguri.

A mosque near Gate 1 and one other location around Gate 5 were targeted during the early hours of today .

Rescue and security officials are on site, triage and causality evacuation concluded.

The incident occurred around 5am during Subhi prayer at the mosque. 2 people and 2 suicide bombers were confirmed dead (total of Four)and 17 injured at the time of response.”

Daily Trust gathered that the early morning bomb attack which occurred at JS mosque near the staff quarters was carried out by a 7 year old suicide bomber.

The bomber it was learnt killed a Director of Vetenary medicine, Prof. Aliyu Mani, and four others, while another 15 persons are said to be injured.

Earlier, the Borno state police spokesman Victor Isuku confirmed to journalists the early morning explosion at the University of Maiduguri.

He noted that the blast happened during early morning prayers by Muslim faithful, and promised to provide more details soon.

Daily Trust reporter gathered that students are angry over being locked up in their hostel.

Aishat Umar a 300 level undergraduate student told Daily Trust that students have been complaining that they were locked up in the hotels.
