Mercy Cynthia Ginikachuwku, popularly known as Ada Jesus, “is gone”, an Activist Harrison Gwamnishu said on BBC pidgin on Wednesday.

Ada Jesus first made her illness known to her fans on December 22, 2019, when she posted on Facebook that “My beloved fans, I have been sick for months that’s why I haven’t released any video yet. I’m fine now. Happy Christmas to you all.”

A comedian whose revelation about a scoundrel Pastor led to her public humiliation despite her health condition finally gave up the ghost.

Harrison had played an active role in an attempt to rescue the Nigerian female comedian. On April 19, he had organized a small get-together to celebrate Cynthia’s birthday.

It was reported that Femi Fani-Kayode’s estranged wife, Precious Chikwendu, was seen at the hospital celebrating with Ada Jesus whom physical appearance had betrayed her beauty.

She battled with kidney disease for months in a country where the President flies to the United Kingdom for ear infection and knee checks; it was apparent Ada Jesus didn’t have a chance of survival.

At the point of her struggle, popular actress Rita Edochie and a miracle pastor based in Anambra, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, were busy claiming credit for her health.

Ada Jesus had claimed months prior that Rita Edochie had connived with the Prophet Chukwuemeka to stage fake miracles.

In Nigeria, doctors could refer you to a pastor claiming your ailment is spiritual, giving power to fake pastors to exploit their followers in the name of miracles. Ada Jesus’s situation wasn’t different.

Cynthia visited the miracle pastor to beg for forgiveness in a video that was widely circulated on social media, and to the amazement of churchgoers and perhaps, other church pastors, The Pastor refused to pray for the sick Ada Jesus, even vowed her generations would suffer for the insults and lies.

The pastor’s decision was in direct variance to what he preaches daily in church and the word “forgiveness”, which appears 121 times in the bible.

Edochie was present in the video and was heard vowing not to forgive the comedian.

Cynthia’s popularity did not get her the tool to save her life. On February 25, she took to her Facebook to appeal to her followers for contributions.

It took the intervention of an Asaba-based native doctor, Chi Marine, for Prophet Odumeje to forgive Cynthia.

The native doctor pleaded that there was nothing that can’t be forgiven, urging the pastor to forgive her because Cynthia might not see the next day.

The irony of this is that usually, the pastors tell the congregation that native doctors are the devil affiliated. The alleged devil’s messenger had to appeal to God’s manager to apply the scripture.

Mrs Edochie also succumbed to social media pressure and the Native doctor’s plea and forgave Cynthia.

“I am here to tell you all that I have forgiven Ada Jesus. From my heart to heart, I have forgiven you, Ada Jesus,” she said in the almost three-minute video posted on her Instagram page.

“Stop insulting men of God, particularly my man of God, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanemere Odumeje. Use him to respect me. He’s good for me; that’s why I’m with him,” she also said.

“Stop mocking me because I’m following Odumejeje. Whatever anyone is comfortable with, let them do. I am comfortable staying with him. Look for a good place and stay. Leave us alone.”

Prophet Odumeje, in a viral video on April 17, forgave the comedian and even pledged N1m (£1 887), which Cynthia’s family rejected for a reason best known to them.
