The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was attacked on Tuesday, and men from the Ogun State Police Command engaged potential kidnappers.

The gunmen attempted to kidnap passengers from an 18-seat bus while wearing military camouflage.

According to reports, the event occurred when the car was traveling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to Lagos.

According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen attacked the bus from a thicket before the Sagamu Interchange.

The passengers and the driver were said to have scampered for safety, as some hid under the bus.

However, the intervention of policemen in the area foiled the attack.

A video taken after the incident and obtained by The Standard Gazette showed people writhing in pain on the floor.

I thought I was dead, having been shot by them. They faced our vehicle, shooting at us; we all lay down except the driver, who was the target. They thought we were all dead and retreated into the bush. The joint patrol team of police officers from Ogun and Oyo states arrived at the scene later,” a passenger said while narrating their ordeal.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the public relations officer for the Ogun State Police, confirmed the incident and said that it was stopped by the authorities.

However, the police official claimed he was unaware of any passenger injuries sustained during the incident.
