Again, National Grid collapses for third time in One month

On Friday, the national energy grid had a system failure, the third in less than a month.

On March 14 at 10:40 a.m., the grid fell, resulting in nationwide power outages.

On March 15, less than 48 hours later, the grid crashed again, causing blackouts in communities across the country.

Abdulazeez Abdullahi, chief of corporate relations at Kaduna Electric, confirmed the latest development in a statement on Friday, saying the grid fell around 6:29pm.

Kaduna Electric for instance released a statement regarding the grid collapse by apologizing to its customers. “Dear Esteemed Customers, the management of Kaduna Electric regrets to inform you that the current outage being experienced in our franchise states is due to a collapse of the national grid,” the statement reads.“

The collapse occurred at about 18:29 pm this evening. Normal power supply shall be restored as soon as the grid is restored.“ We sincerely apologise for all inconveniences.”
