A one-hour flight now costs more than one hundred thousand (N100,000) naira.

Many of the travellers bemoaned the dramatically rising cost of travel.

For instance, as of the time of submitting this research, economy class domestic tickets on Arik Air, United Nigeria, and Air Peace cost over N150,000. Since then, other airlines have done the same.

“How can you say Lagos to Abuja is N154,000? Am I plucking money from the tree?” says a passenger.

The increase in the cost of flights is not unconnected with the cost of Aviation fuel.

The price of a litre of Jet A1 has increased from N400 to nearly N800. Airlines have also voiced complaints about having trouble obtaining foreign currency.
