Sulaiman Haruna, Aisha Buhari’s aide, has dismissed rumours that the Nigerian First Lady is expecting a child.
Images of Aisha have been circulating on social media in connection with rumours that she is expecting a child.
The photographs appeared after the first lady returned to Abuja from the Turkey-Africa conference, which she and her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari, had attended. In the midst of the pregnancy rumours, social media users speculated that the first lady was sick.
In fact, Sahara Reporters, a popular news blog had reported that Aisha Buhari must have been diagnosed with what is suspected to be cancer.
Haruna, however, rejected the allegations in an interview with BBC Pidgin, saying that the first lady is “absolutely OK.”
He said: “I can assure you 100 percent that our first lady is perfectly okay. She is neither sick nor pregnant as some reports claim. “Some of these reports are from mischief-makers who don’t mean well. You know, nowadays, people can tamper with photos.”
