All set for the late President Mwai Kibaki’s national requiem mass

Preparations for the National Requiem Mass for the late President Mwai Kibaki are complete.

Overseen by the Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi, rehearsals were held Thursday at State House and Nyayo National Stadium as Kenya Defence Forces continue to accord the late President full military honours.

Today’s ceremony will involve a military procession from State House to Nyayo National stadium where the requiem mass will take place.

The burial ceremony shall take place at his rural home in Othaya, Nyeri County, central Kenya, on Saturday, April 30.

Kibaki died on Friday, April 22, 2022, and was announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He died aged 90.

Kibaki was elected the third Kenyan president in 2002 and retired in 2013.
