…..Congratulates ICC on 20th-anniversary celebration

As President Muhammadu Buhari was billed to deliver a message as a gust at the conference organized by the International Criminal Court of Justice in Haque, Netherland, a human rights activist, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman has urged the international court charge Nigeria President for genocide instead of inviting him as a guest to deliver a keynote address at the international gathering.

He, however, condemned the invitation being extended to Buhari to address the august gathering which was described as misplacement of priority.

Comrade Sulaiman who congratulated the Court on its 20th-anniversary celebration, in a signed statement which copies were made available to newsmen on Tuesday, he maintained that Buhari did not deserve to be given such honour to address the gathering at the ICC, adding that Buhari’s detest constructive criticism and his government lacks respect for democratic norms.

He recalled that the then Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) during the build-up to 2015 Presidential election, declared that there would be bloodshed in the country if he lost 2015 Presidential election and the statement was seen as very unfortunate from a leader.

Right activist also recalled how Buhari ordered his supporters to kill if he lost 2011 Presidential election and the threat came to pass with the death of many Nigerians, particularly, the nine(9) National Youth Corps Service(NYSC) Members that served as Adhoc staff of the electoral umpire(INEC) in the Northern part of the country.

He listed the names of the nine slay youth corps members as result of Buhari’s threat as; Anselem Chuckwu Nonyerem, Ogbokiri O. Micheal, Adeniyi Kehinde J., Akonyi Ibrahim Sule, Ukeoma I. Chibuzor, Gbenjo E. Ayotunde. Others were; Adowei Elliot, Teidi Tosin Olawale and Adewumi Seun Paul.

Sulaiman who is Executive Chairman, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) stated that the killings of innocent Nigerians across the land, especially, in Benue and Plateau States under Buhari’s watch were part of his offence at the ICC, insisting that President Buhari did not fit to address the gathering of civil and crime-free
individuals.

He added that Buhari’s government had failed to come up with the measure on how the ongoing massacre of innocent Nigerians would be tamed and safe return of Chibok and Dapchi girls and the recent killings of Seven Policemen in Abuja and other parts of the country, adding that Boko Haram sect was still continuing with their onslaught in the North-Eastern part of the country under Buhari’s administration which is contrary to the claim of technically defeated the Boko Haram sect.

Sulaiman who recalled that his group(CHRSJ) had earlier resolved to drag President Muhammadu Buhari before the International Criminal Court (ICC) over worsening security situation in the country because of the seemingly nonchalant attitude of President Buhari which has given rise to serious suspicion suggesting that he has been giving tacit support to some foreign militias of Fulani extraction who have been engaging in a campaign of wanton killings in the country.

According to him, “President Buhari has shirked his responsibility of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians. He has grossly failed to live up to the oath of office he took upon the assumption of office over three years ago and this is unacceptable to us as a group.

“We have observed with utter dismay how President Buhari has been treating these criminal elements with kid glove. To our dismay, we have continued to witness how our president who should be a father to all has been shielding these criminals who are of his ethnic Fulanis extraction with kid glove and we cannot take it anymore.”

Sulaiman alleged President Buhari of shielding the killers from prosecution by refusing to take the decisive action he took on members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who were engaged in an intellectual campaign for the establishment of their homeland out of the current nation.

He then accused the leadership of the various Buhari’s security organizations of being complicit in the never-ending orgy of killings in the country, saying rather than be a neutral arbiter in the crisis they have been involved in providing the necessary cover to the marauding criminals.
