Another one bites the dust as Edo police kill alleged robber in Ugbor, GRA

Police have killed a suspected alleged armed robber in Ugbo, Benin City.

The incident happened on Tuesday 12 July at about 4.45.

Officers from the Ugbor division had received a distress call that some armed men were robbing residents in Abuja quarters near Benson Idahosa University, Ugbor, GRA, Benin City.

The team was led by an unidentified DPO who repelled the gang's attack and arrested the suspects.

The police said the suspects had opened fire upon sighting them, and officers retaliated, leading to the death of one of the gang members.

The police said they recovered one pump action gun and 5 live cartridges.

Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang who escaped.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, renewed his commitment to fighting crime and criminality in the state and called for the support of stakeholders in the state.
