Armed Bandits Kill Six People In Kaduna Village

Armed bandits have reportedly killed six people in an attack on Fadaman Rimi community in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning around 7 a.m.

According to a resident, the bandits in a large number invaded the community, shooting sporadically.

Six people were killed on the spot while one person identified as Ikoniya sustained gunshots injury.

The victims’ names include Saminu, Wosha, Isiya, Titus, Madami and Tanko, all resident in the same village.

“They came about 6:00am and started shooting. I don’t know how many they were but they many and they were armed with sophisticated weapons,” he said.

“There was pandemonium as people heard sounds of gunshots and they started running for safety. They shooting at us as we were running. They looted our property and took away our cows. We are all terrified by this incident.”

On Thursday, two people, including a physically-challenged person were abducted in Kugosi Gadani village, also in Chikun local government area.

The incident happened around 21:hrs.

Initially, when contacted, the spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, Yakubu Sabo said he received a call concerning the incident and was making an effort to verify the information.

“I am just trying to verify, somebody called me some 6 minutes ago. I think when the incident happened, they didn’t even report to the police, I am trying to verify from the community,” he said.

“I have gotten a link (contact) to the community and I have been trying the (telephone) line for the past 20 minutes. I want to get the picture of what happened because the police were not contacted… I am trying to get the facts and come up with a statement.”

Later, the police released an official statement confirming the incident.

PRO Sabo said the bandits rustled numbers of cattle during the attack.

He said “Today 14/9/19 at about 0700hrs, the Command received an information that, some suspected Armed Bandits attacked Fadaman Rimi hamlet, a remote settlement from Udawa village in Chukun L G A, shot and killed persons namely Saminu, Wosha, Isiya, Titus, Madami and Tanko (surnames not yet ascertained) all of the same Village while one Ikoniya sustained gunshot injury.

“The hoodlums were said have rustled some unknown number of cattle and escaped. On receipt of the information, teams of detectives have been mobilised to the area on a general search mission for possible arrest of the culprits and recovery of the rustled cattle.”

“The Commissioner of Police CP Ali Aji Janga is saddened with this ugly incident and wishes to commiserate with the families of the deceased persons.

“The CP assures the good people of Kaduna State that the perpetrators will be apprehended and be brought to justice.

“He enjoins the public to assist the Police with relevant information on the whereabouts of suspicious persons to enable the Command to ensure adequate proactive security measures.”
