A 36-year-old artisan who orchestrated the kidnapping of his client has been arrested by men of the Edo state police command.
The suspect was arrested in his hideouts in Idunwuniye village near Benin city, Edo state.
The suspect identified as Philemon Thomas was contracted by a businessman to execute blocks moulding for him and he requested to be paid N8,000 per day.
He was said to have been given the contract in a site at Idumwuniye village near Benin city.
Thomas who hails from Adamawa state had only done the first job when he started nursing the idea to kidnap the man who contracted him for the job.
Standard Gazette Crime Correspondent Festus Alenkhe gathered that Thomas allegedly mobilised six other gang men to execute the kidnapping at about 6.30 PM same day he worked in the block moulding site.
Some armed men stormed the man’s house and kidnapped him.
Police Investigation revealed that the armed kidnappers then led their victim into the forest.
The victim was quick to recognise the ARTISAN when he was been led into the Bush.
During the ordeal, the man was able to escape from the kidnappers’ den.
The police and members of the vigilante then combed the vicinity where this suspect was arrested.
The suspect, however, regretted planning the kidnap of the man who helped him to get his daily pay.
The police have now launched an intensive investigation into the incident to arrest all those named in the crime.
