The Royal Garden Community Development Association of Asese Town has urgently appealed to the Chief of Naval Staff and the Speaker of the House of Representatives following a reported invasion by armed personnel of the Nigerian Navy.
The incident, which took place on July 6, is said to be at the behest of the Trustees of Believers Love World, also known as Christ Embassy.
In letters addressed to Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo and Rt. Hon. Dr Tajudeen Abbas, the community leader, detailed the events of the invasion, describing it as a “brazen” act meant to obstruct the execution of a High Court order from the Abeokuta Division.
The order mandated the demolition of a block wall erected by Christ Embassy, which has blocked a community access road recognized by the Ogun State Government for over 20 years.
The community, led by Chairman Mr. Razaq Oladimeji and Vice Chairman Mr. Austin Otevbi, emphasized their law-abiding nature, stating that they sought judicial intervention to dismantle the wall and restore free vehicular and pedestrian movement.
They reported that the blockade had inflicted significant psychological, spiritual, and economic hardship on the residents for nearly a year.
Furthermore, the community alleges that their longstanding land transaction with Believers Love World has been marred by betrayal and encroachment, leading to constant harassment by law enforcement and military personnel.
They urge the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the actions of the Nigerian Navy personnel involved in the invasion.
The letters, undersigned by the community leaders, also referenced the devastating impact of similar incidents in other communities, such as Okuama in Delta State, and appealed for immediate intervention to prevent further escalation.
The Royal Garden Community Development Association, has attached relevant documents to support their claims and illustrate the strained relations with Believers Love World.
The Asese community calls for peace, progress, and a resolution to the ongoing conflict to restore harmony and ensure their safety and well-being.
