At least seven people have been confirmed dead after gunmen attacked three villages in Kaduna State.
The Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the incident on Sunday.
According to Channels Television, the local governments affected are Igabi, Chikun and Zango Kataf.
Comm Aruwan confirmed that four persons were killed and one injured in Kerawa village of Igabi local government after gunmen shot sporadically.
According to the Commissioner, the bandits carted away some food supplies and motorcycles during the attack.
In Igabi and Chikun local government areas, two people were killed in the two attacks.
The bandits invaded Sabon Garin Ungwar Dalha, the outskirts of the Maraban Jos area of Igabi LGA, broke into some homes and shot into the air sporadically.
According to the information gathered, a woman was hit by a stray bullet, and she died instantly.
Meanwhile, in Chikun local government, a man was shot to death in Ungwan Zallah.
In a separate incident, the gunmen attacked commuters along the Ungwan Rimi-Afana road in Zangon Kataf Local Government, killing one person in the process.
Comm. Aruwan said the victim was shot in the chest and died at the hospital.
The State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, says he had received the reports with deep sadness.
He conveyed his sincere condolences to the families of the citizens who were killed in the attacks across the local government areas and wished the injured person a speedy recovery, even as he commiserated with the attacked communities.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
