The village head of Mazoji in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State has been reportedly killed by gunmen.
The gunmen reporedly killed the village head, Dikko usman at his residence on Friday.
Channels Tv says it confirmed the incident from Usman, a brother to the late village head.
Usman reportedly blamed the authorities for releasing the bandits from their custody, saying the gunmen struck after the release.
“It was last week that some bandits were apprehended and were given shelter in the deceased house,” said the village head’s brother who pleaded anonymity.
He added, “Vigilante members arrested the hoodlums and presented them to the police and finally, they have been freed as I am talking to you. I even doubt if they are not the ones responsible for his death.”
Villages in Katsina has beeen reportedly attacked by bandits in a renewed attack since the beginning of this month.
Residents in the state had protested last week, calling the government to save them from bandits terrorising: raping, their women, rustling their livestock and other belongings.
The police have yet to confirm the incident.
