Benin Airport Attack: Blessing Agbomhere sues Philip Shaibu, Police Commissioner

A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the 2016 gubernatorial primaries, Mr. Blessing Agbomhere has sued the deputy governor of Edo State, Mr. Philip Shaibu, Commissioner of Police and Mr. Haliru Gwandu.

Agbomhere approached the Federal High Court in Abuja over the assault at the Benin Airport on May 8, 2017 by hoodlums who allegedly acted on the instruction of Shaibu.

NAIJA CENTER NEWS had earlier report the incident where Agbomhere and his friend were attacked at the airport in Benin. The former aspirant accused the deputy governor of masterminding the attack over his constant outspokenness on happenings in the party and his fallout with the former governor of Edo State, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole.

Agbomhere approached the high court seeking N500m for the violation of his fundamental human right, for the arrest and prosecution of the suspected attackers and kidnappers, for the dismissal of the petition of threat to life by Shaibu.

At the hearing of an ex parte application for injunctive relief against the respondents on Friday 30th, June, 2017 before Honorable Justice Dimgba, a judge of the Federal High Court, the Court ordered that the respondents be put on notice, and that the Police should maintain the Status Quo until the hearing and determination of the substantive application on Notice which has been fixed for today 6th, July 2017.

Today 6th, July 2017, Honorable Justice Dimgba adjourned hearing of the matter till October 2017 to allow appearance of the defendants in the suit.
