The Oba of Benin Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare the Second says individuals, groups and Villages may face sanctions, if they fail to heed to existing restrains order of the Palace on land disputes.
The warnings from the monarch are coming on the heel of claims of frivolous Complaints Amid rising Communal clashes received in the palace of the Oba.
Recall that, the operational Structures of the Palace of the Oba, had been placed on hold following the ravaging novel COVID-19 pandemic worldwide.

Addressing newsmen yesterday at the Palace of the Oba, the Iyase and Head of the Benin Traditional Council, Chief Sam Igbe, warned perpetrators indicted for such delinquency to desist or bear the Underlying Consequences of their actions as stipulated by the provisions of Extant Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in line with Benin Traditional Customs.
According to the Oba, “It has come to the attention of the Oba’s Palace that certain individuals, groups and Villages have engaged in frivolous Complaints and claims to various Security Agencies”.
“These Complaints and claims are being communicated to the palace to make the needed clarifications as they border on Benin Traditional Customs and Norms which falls under the purview of his Royal Majesty”.
“For the avoidance of doubt, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare ll, have further urged individuals, groups and Villages that have genuine Complaints and claims to exercise utmost restraint and maintain the peace and restrain from making any frivolities,”
In line with the foregoing, the Oba of Benin Said, it’s expected that all Covid-19 arrangements maintain the status quo while waiting patiently for the lifting or Relaxation of the various lockdown protocols and the subsequent resumption of palace structures charged with disputes resolution and adjudication of Complaints emanating from aggrieved individuals, groups and Villages.
The Benin Monarch explicitly reiterated the palace position affirming that those engaged in fanning ember of discords would have to retrace their steps and make meaningful contributions to societal development or face necessary actions as provided for, by the Extant Laws.
