The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5, Benin City, AIG Tanko Jimeta Lawal, is dead.
The Standard Gazette gathered that the police boss died early on Sunday, 12 February 2023.
It was gathered that the AIG took ill on Wednesday, 8 February and was taken to Benin Teaching Hospital, Edo State. Despite best efforts, he died today, TSG gathered.
The AIG was a former commissioner of police in Edo State before he was promoted to the rank of the Assistant Inspector General of Police on 13 January 2022.
He also served as PEronal Assistant to the AIG of Police, Department of Training and Development, FHQ Annex, Lagos State and Chief of Training, Directorate of Peace-keeping, FHQ, Abuja.
In a phone conversation, the Zone 5 Police Public Relations Officer, Tijani Momoh, who confirmed the story to TSG, said the police will soon issue an official statement.
Late Jime hailed from Adamawa State and will be buried according to Islamic rites.
