The planned protest by Nigerian popular musician, Mr. Innocent Idibia popularly known as 2face has been cancelled, according to the singer.

Mr. Idibia had called a protest to be held on the 6th of February against the Federal government who he believed was not doing its primary duties for the citizens, coupled with the changes and hardship experienced since the assumption of office by President Buhari-led government.

The Nigerian police had warned that it wouldn’t allow the protest to hold citing security challenges.

On Saturday, 2face suddenly released a video chickening out of the protest, citing security reason.

According to the singer, “Dear Nigerians, after due consultation, it has become clear that the one voice Nigeria protest scheduled to hold in Lagos and Abuja on Monday, the 6th of February is under serious threat of hijack by interest not align with our ideas.

“The point and intent i am trying to make is not worth the life of any Nigerian. It is in fact, motivated by the need to demand a better deal for the ordinary Nigerian. I therefore announce the cancellation of the planned protest.

“We will share further information in due course, and i appreciate the massive support. I am convinced that our voices have been heard.”

What’s not clear from the statement above is whether the police was able to get to 2face, negotiate with him to drop the idea of the protest as the news had spread nationwide and many civil organisation had planned to join.
