The Nigeria Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun has been reported to have resigned her duty post from the President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.

Punch reported that Adeosun resigned over the allegations that she forged her National Youth Service Corps certificate.

The Minister was said to have resumed office this morning and it is unclear when her resignation will take effect.

The news was first reported by Premium Times and had generated a lot of buzz from Nigerians, the political opposition and anti-corruption organisations like SERAP.

SERAP had sued the NYSC DG over his refusal to address the issue of the forgery.

The report alleged that Adeosun did not participate in the one-year national youth service which is compulsory for all graduates, but allegedly forged her Exemption Certificate several years after her graduation.

The certificate, according to the report, was dated September 2009 and signed by a former NYSC Director-General, Yusuf Bomoi who was said to have left office in January 2009.

Buhari appointed Adeosun as the Minister of Finance in November 2015 after she had been cleared by the Department of STate SErvices and the Senate who did a background check on her.
