Breaking: Obaseki Goes Into Self-Isolation Over Coronavirus

The Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki has gone into self-isolation following his close contact with the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Muhammed.

Obaseki was also in contact with Abba Kyari the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari who has also tested positive for the Covid-19.

This was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie.

Obaseki has sent samples for testing and awaiting result.

Mr Osagie said, “The governor has gone into self-isolation after the Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, tested positive for coronavirus.

“The governor had met Senator Mohammed at the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and National Economic Council (NEC) meetings. He also visited Mr Kyari.”

Osagie said the governor is not showing any symptoms of the virus but only went on self-isolation for precautionary reasons – to protect the people that may otherwise come in contact with him.

Coronavirus in Nigeria has taken a dramatic increase over the last few days.

The government says it has activated some measures to curtail the virus and still tracing people who may have been in contact with infected people.

Top officials who have tested positive for the Coronavirus are Abba Kyari, Bala Muhammed (Bauchi’s governor).

The Vice President of Nigeria has reportedly tested negative as he had earlier gone on Isolation after the news of the Chief of Staff surfaced.

Many other top officials have also commenced self-isolation.
