A Nigerian activist, Chido Onumah has been arrested by the State Security Service, SSS.

Onumah is a journalist and author.

Premium Times reports that the activist was arrested on Sunday evening at the Abuja airport

Onumah recently bagged a doctorate in communication studies in Spain.

He reportedly arrived via Lufthansa airline and was approached by the SSS at the luggage collection point at about 17: 00hrs, according to one of his associates who disclosed the incident.

Onumah was said to be taken to the agency headquarter in Abuja.

The activist is the author of “We Are All Biafrans”, columnist and a member of the editorial board of Premium Times.

He is an advocate for good governance and restructuring. He uses his civic whistleblower’s network to challenge the government.

An effort to reach the SSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya was unsuccessful as he did not pick his phone.
