Buhari to host Nigerien President Bazoum with 21-gun salute on Thursday

Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari will be hosting Niger President Mohammed Bazoum on March 31 2022.

Bazoum will be at the villa for a few hours, but "the neighbouring leader will be received with full military honours, including a 21-Gun Salute, the presidency said on Wednesday night.

The leaders are expected to discuss issues relating to the "security challenges and strategic stability affecting the sub-region and the globe."

"While President Bazoum's visit is expected to last for a few hours, the neighbouring leader will be received with full military honours, including a 21-Gun Salute.

"The relations between Nigeria and Niger are considered a true model of interstate friendship," a senior spokesperson of the administration, Garba Shehu, said.

The visit is barely 48 hours after terrorists bombed and killed commuters on the Abuja-Kaduna train.
