Ceiling robbers using military uniform arrested after operation in Benin

Four suspected armed robbers who broke into a residential home through the ceiling have been arrested in Edo State.

Iyobor Victor, Osas Agamwonyi, Nosa Owie and Idi Etukudo were arrested on Friday, 11 March 2023, on suspicion of conspiracy, armed robbery, cultism, and unlawfully wearing military uniform.

The gang was arrested after one of their operations in Benin City, Edo State.

The Standard Gazette gathered that the suspects wore military camouflage and forcefully gained entry into a house through the ceiling at Temboga road in Ikpobill, Benin City.

TSG further gathered that the robbers took their victim's ATM card and withdrew the sum of N447,000 before changing it to Euro.

The police were called to the incident, and an investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of the four suspects.

During an interview, one of the suspects revealed that he robbed the victim because he "worked for the woman in the past, and she did not pay me."

"I then decided to engage in this mission to recover the money she owed".

Edo state Police Public Relations Officer SP Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the incident and said the four suspects would appear in court soon.

During the police investigation, some household items earlier stolen were recovered.

They include iPhone 3 max valued at N500,000, iPhone 6 max, jewelries valued at N850,000, a washing machine, gas cylinder, make-up box, Hisense tv, Split Air conditioners and several items.
