The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Wahid Shaibu, has reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army, through cooperation and shared commitment, will continue to confront security challenges and preserve the peace and unity of Nigeria.
General Shaibu made this known during a visit to the Forward Operation Base in Udomi for an Easter luncheon with troops of the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, as a show of appreciation for their service and sacrifice.
Represented by the Chief of Army Staff, Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, Benin, Major General Adebayo Adegbite, flanked by the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Chinedu Nnebeife, the Commander 4 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, was welcomed to the Easter luncheon by officials and community leaders.
Addressing the troops, the Chief of Army Staff, represented by Major General Adegbite, described the Easter luncheon as part of the Nigerian Army’s continued efforts to appreciate and motivate its personnel, even as they remain on the frontlines of national security.
“I want to appreciate you for your gallantry you have represented your country and show your commitment to duty am assuring that you are not alone as the Chief of Army Staff who sent us to you salutes your dedication and commitment to the course of eradicating insurgency in the country.”
In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Chinedu Nnebeife, emphasised the importance of sustained commitment among troops in tackling emerging security challenges.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic serving of meals to troops by the Chief of Army Staff, alongside displays of camaraderie among officers and cultural performances by invited troupes.
In a closing remark, the Commander of 4 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, appreciated the Chief of Army Staff for the visit, noting that it would further boost the morale of troops in the discharge of their duties.
