Activities at major roads and security outfits in Benin City were temporarily grounded for hours on Tuesday as deaf and dumb persons in conjunction with some members of the civil society organization in Edo State stormed the streets to protest the gruesome murder of one of their own Mr Efe Ogbeide who was killed at his site by hoodlums in the crisis rocking Obazagbon Community in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.
The protesters numbering over two hundred persons comprising the deaf and dumb persons, CSO and concerned youths including the wife of the deceased with her three children were visibly worried over the killing of the breadwinner of the family.
The protesters registered their grievances at the State House of Assembly, Edo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, the state police headquarters and the Government House in Benin City.
Speaking Comrade Emma Edokpolor, Comrade Maxist Kola-Edokpayi said the deceased was working on a building when gunmen in the Obazagbon Community killed him unjustly without any offence.
Responding to the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly Blessing Agbebaku, Edo State Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations Ben Abang assured of justice on the matter.
The crisis in the Obazagbon Community is said to ensued over a leadership tussle where several lives have been lost and houses burnt.
