Court Freezes 24 Bank Accounts Of Kano State Government Over Disobedience To Ruling

A Federal High Court Sitting in Abuja has frozen 24 Bank accounts belonging to the Kano State Government.

This is a result of its failure to comply with a court ruling to pay N30 billion in compensation to victims of the Filling Idi Demolition exercise in the state. 

The court order extended to 24 bank accounts in Kano State, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) account of the state.

Justice E. An Ekwo, the presiding judge, has instructed the Kano State Government to appear in court on January 18 to provide a credible explanation for the freezing of N30 billion in the impacted bank accounts.

The funds are meant to be allocated to the Incorporated Trustees of Masallacin Eid Shop Owners.

This comes as a result of its failure to adhere to a court ruling to pay N30 billion in compensation to victims of the Filling Idi Demolition exercise.

The freezing directive extends to 24 bank accounts in Kano State, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) account of the state.
