COVID-19: Nigeria Hits 1728 As NCDC Confirms 196 New Cases

Nigeria has confirmed 196 new cases of novel Coronavirus, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control disclosed via twitter on Wednesday night.

According to NCDC, the 196 new cases bring the total to 1728 confirmed cases in the country.

According to its tweet, of the 196 cases, 87 were confirmed in Lagos, 24 in Kano, 18 in Gombe.

Other states affected are Kaduna with 17 new cases, 16 in Federal Capital Territory, 10 in Katsina, 8 in Sokoto, 7 in Edo, 6 in Borno and one in Yobe, Ebonyi and Adamawa state respectively.

With the new cases, COVID-19 has now spread to 34 out of 36 states of the country, including FCT.

The country has recorded 51 deaths to the virus complication while 307 have been discharged.

As of on Wednesday night, Nigeria has an active case of 1370.

Meanwhile, despite the increasing numbers of COVID-19 in the state, the governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had on Wednesday directed the reopening of eateries, restaurants and markets from 9am to 3pm.
