COVID-19: Nigeria Hits 665 As NCDC Confirms 38 New Cases

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed thirty-eight (38) new COVID-19 cases.

This was disclosed via its Twitter handle on Monday night.

According to the NCDC, the new cases have brought the total to 665 with Lagos State still taking the lead.

Twenty-three (23) were confirmed in Kano, five (5) in Gombe, three (3) in Kaduna, two (2) in Borno, two (2) in Abia, one (1) in Sokoto, Ekiti and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) respectively.

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 represented by the Nigerian Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire had earlier on Monday urged Nigerians to remain calm as nine out of ten patients of the virus recover.

“There is no reason for apprehension because over 90 percent of those who have COVID-19 will recover,” he said.

“Nine out 10 will recover, so what is the fear about. Only that the numbers are so large that we forget that people recover and the few get very sick, that is just about four or five out of 100.”

Currently, 188 people have recovered from the virus while the country lost 22 to COVID-19 complications.

However, Ehanire appealed to Nigerians to obey measures in place to curtail the spread of the virus by maintaining social distancing, proper hygiene and use face masks in the public places.
