- NCDC confirms 216 new cases as total hits 6,175
Nigeria has recorded 216 new cases of the COVID-19, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The new cases were confirmed on Monday night, bringing the total to 6,175.
According to NCDC via Twitter, of the 216 new cases, 74 were confirmed in Lagos, followed by Katsina with 33 cases.

The NCDC also recorded 19 cases in Oyo, 17 cases in Kano and Edo followed with 13 new cases.
Other states with the cases including Zamfara state with 10 cases, Gombe, Borno and Ogun State recorded 8 cases each while Bauchi and Kwara have 7 respectively.
The Disease Control agency also announced 4 cases in the Federal Capital Territory, followed by Kaduna and Enugu with 3 each, and lastly, Rivers State recorded two new cases.
The country has successfully discharged 1,644 patients while, unfortunately, 191 patient died due to COVID-19 complications.
This means that under 24 hours Nigeria recorded 15 deaths and also discharged 172 patients.

Due to the continuous increase of new cases in the country, the Federal government on Monday continued its lockdown measures imposed amid COVID-19 pandemic.
The government has continued his restriction on airports, religious centres, and schools for another 14-days.
“The reality is that in spite of the modest progress made, Nigeria is not yet ready for full opening of the economy and tough decisions have to be taken for the good of the greater majority,” Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha said in a briefing on Monday in Abuja.
“Any relaxation will only portend grave danger for our populace. Advisedly, the current phase of eased restriction will be maintained for another two weeks during which stricter enforcement and persuasion measures will be pursued,” the government said.
