A 400-level Computer Engineering student of the University of Benin in Edo State has been found dead after being abducted.

Destiny Osasenaga was abducted at his residence in the Uwelu community in Benin City by some gunmen in the presence of his father and other family members.

The Standard Gazette gathered that the gunmen stormed the house in search of his elder brother but settled for him when their target was unavailable.

It was gathered that the older brother had crossed one of the gang members who had sent his gang to teach him a lesson.

Irked with his absence, the angry gunmen abducted Destiny, forced him into a Mercedez Benz GLK Jeet, and drove him to a bush path along Benin-Akure road near Oluku Benin City.

TSG learned that Destiny was beaten to death, and his lifeless body was dumped in a refuge site in the same area.

His body has been deposited in the mortuary in Benin city, the police statement said.

The Edo state police commissioner, CP Dankwara, ordered a covert operation and commissioned the anti-kidnapping and cybercrime unit to go undercover, leading to the arrest of one of the gang members in Port Harcourt in Rivers State.

Kenneth Ediagbonya is a member of a secret cult terrorising Ugbowo, Uwelu and environs, the police said.

According to the suspect, "I am a member of a secret cult group; one of our members injured me close to my eyes. I then told my other colleagues what had happened to me.

"We then agreed to go to his house to capture him so we could deal with him. We went on the first day, but he was not at home. We went back the next day and still did not meet him. But we saw his younger brother and abducted him along with us.

"We took him to Akure road where my friends started beating him. I was shocked that he died instantly . I then ran to Port Harcourt to escape police arrest. My other friends also ran away too".

Contacted Edo state Police Public Relations Officer SP Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the incident adding that the command will ensure the arrest of other gang members now at large.

The Police image maker called for useful information from the public that would lead to the arrest of other gang members now on the run.
