Seven suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity have been arrested in Uromi, Edo State, as the Police Command intensifies its crackdown on cult-related violence, kidnapping and armed robbery across the state.
This is part of a series of major breakthroughs recorded between November 15 and 26, 2025.
In a statement released by the public relations officer, CSP Moses Yamu, the suspects were apprehended after operatives of Uromi Division stormed a hospital where they were allegedly holding a strategic meeting to launch an attack on rival Aye Confraternity members.
However, A battle axe and other cult paraphernalia were recovered in the operation.
One of the key actors in the earlier clash that triggered the planned attack, Asuelimen Saviour, was later arrested on November 16th.
In continuation of the anti-cultism operations, four additional suspects linked to the Aye Confraternity were arrested on November 23rd during a coordinated raid in Uromi.
Two female suspects were later intercepted on November 25th with a pump-action shotgun and five live cartridges concealed in a sack, allegedly belonging to a fleeing gang member.
All suspects have been charged in court.
The statement further revealed that operatives arrested a suspected kidnapper, Usman Shagari, believed to be part of the gang that abducted Daniel Okoekhian and his wife on November 22nd, while on the same day, officers of Egba Division rescued two other kidnapped victims, Uwa Greg and Airen Osahimwian, during a bush-combing operation in Ugha Forest.
In another development, an attempted armed robbery at the Ohovbe area of Ikpoba Hill was foiled on November 21st, leaving one robber neutralized while others escaped.
