Many Killed as daredevil robbers attack three banks in Uromi

Three commercial banks were today 24 February 2022, attacked by some suspected armed Robbers in Uromi, Esan North-East local government area of Edo State.

Many people were reportedly killed in the attack that lasted for hours.

First Bank, Union and Unity Banks - located along Mission Road in Uromi, Edo State were all attacked by the daredevil robbers.

According to the report, the heavily armed men who came with dynamites first attacked the police station in Uromi with some fatalities.

They later went straight to the banks, where they shot sporadically to gain easy access.

Undisclosed cash has been carted away from the various banks attacked at press time.

The suspected armed robbers were said to have escaped through Old Ubiaza Road in Uromi while they were still shooting sporadically.

When contacted, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs, said he is yet to receive full details of the incident.

He, however, said police reinforcement had been sent to Uromi to restore normalcy to the area.
