The Delta State Police Command, led by CP Yemi Oyeniyi, have arrested ASP Nuhu Usman with other officers of the Ekpan Division involved in the alleged extrajudicial killing of a twenty-eight-year-old suspect, Mene Ogidi.
The Officers are also to be transferred to the State Command, Asaba, for disciplinary action.
The Delta State Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, in a statement made available to journalists in Warri, confirmed the report, saying the Police operatives were promptly deployed to the scene to take the suspect into custody.
He said, however, the police officer leading the team, ASP Nuhu Usman, in clear violation of Force Order 237 and the standard operating procedure of the Nigeria Police Force, discharged his firearm, leading to the death of the suspect.

SP Edafe Said, “The Commissioner of police directed the Area Commander Effurun to immediately arrest ASP Nuhu Usman and transfer him to the State Headquarters Asaba for necessary action”.
He said the Officer has since been questioned and transferred to Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he will appear before the Force Disciplinary Committee for immediate disciplinary action and prosecution.
“The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has extended his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, Mene Ogidi, and assured the bereaved family that the Command is fully committed to ensuring that justice is served.”
The CP appeals to the members of the public to remain calm and be law-abiding, as all necessary steps are being taken to bring the culprit to justice.
Harrison Gwamnishu confirmed via his Instagram on Tuesday that all the officers involved in the killing have been arrested and have all been transferred to Abuja Headquarters by Area Commander, ACP Aliu Shaba.
The decision is made by the Inspector General of Police to transport the officers involved. Harrison commended the IGP and the Delta State Police for their prompt actions.
The team will travel to Warri on Wednesday morning to visit the family of the victims.
He said, “This guy was begging, they tied him to his back. He was begging for his life even though someone had sent him. The police could have taken him to the police station to investigate his team further.
Nigerians now believe that the victim was immediately shot to stop further investigation, as the officers may know those behind the actual crime.
