Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has warned people against placing advertisements in the media to celebrate his 58th birthday due on Saturday, July 1st.
He advised friends and well-wishers who might want to do so to instead donate the money to charity organisations and orphanages, including a nongovernmental organisation, We Care Trust.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, John Mayaki, said Governor Obaseki was unhappy over the rate of helpless children in the state and had been making moves to address social damage.
The statement said Obaseki would be disheartened to see celebration advertisements instead of notifications that funds had been donated to charity organisations.
