Counsel representing the Department of State Security (DSS), Idowu Awo, has told an Abuja High Court that the case file which included matters of Sunday Igboho’s aides were stolen by armed robbers.
Awo informed the court on Wednesday that his colleague who was to bring the case file to court had boarded a “one chance” bus belonging to armed robbers.
According to him, his belongings including the case file were taken by the armed robbers.
He pleaded the court for an adjournment.
The court was scheduled to hear a fundamental human right suit filed against the DSS by the 12 Igboho supporters, seeking N100 million against the respondent for aggravated and exemplary damages against and for the serial breach of their constitutional rights.
DSS operatives had, on July 1, raided Igboho’s residence in Oyo and arrested 12 of his supporters. Obiora Egwatu, judge of a federal high court in Abuja, had granted bail to the supporters. However, the DSS filed an appeal challenging the bail granted to four out of the 12 persons.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
