Edo police command has deployed 3.387 operations to all parts of Edo state to ensure a hitch-free Easter Celebration.
In a statement on Friday, 15 April 2022 by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs, officers are deployed to various strategic locations in the state.
The move is directed by the new police commissioner, CP Abutu Yaro.
He said, "Their duty is to ensure a hitch-free Easter celebration by ensuring the protection of lives and property in Edo state."
SP Kontongs stated that the police is to ensure the protection of churches and other religious worship centres, event centres and playgrounds.
The Edo state commissioner of police, Abutu Yaro, directed all patrol teams to conduct systematic stop and search without obstructing traffic flow.
The police operatives are to focus on private vehicles with tinted glasses, covered car plate numbers and revolving lights often used by criminals.
SP Kontongs warned police officers to refrain from extortion of motorists as severe sanctions awaited anyone who flouted the directive.
Abutu Yaro wished Christians in Edo state a successful celebration.
