Easter: Shaibu Admonish Christians on Humility, Sacrifice For One Another

Edo State Deputy Gov, Rt Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has implored Christians to allow humility to take the centre stage in their lives and make sacrifices for one another just as Christ sacrificed Himself for mankind.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebomhiana Musa, Comrade Shaibu called for total reflection on the story of the agony and the ultimate price paid by Jesus Christ for our sake so that we may have life.

He said, but for the great sacrifice and resurrection, there would have been no hope of eternal life for Christians.

He, therefore, enjoined Edo people, especially Christians to work hard to emulate the exemplary lifestyle of love, perseverance and unity as epitomised by Christ, describing Him as an embodiment of humility and sacrifice.

The statement explained how Jesus Christ made a great sacrifice for mankind through his birth, crucifixion and resurrection, imploring Christians to use the period to be there for one another always, especially in these trying times of COVID-19 pandemic.

The Deputy Governor used the opportunity to assure Edo people that the Coronavirus pandemic currently ravaging the world is only a phase that would soon be over.

He said: ” Don’t fret, this COVID-19 can’t stay with us for too long, it’s a matter of time, it would be over. Just obey the rules of social distancing, simple regular hand wash and stay at home”.

While wishing Christian faithful a blissful celebration, even in the midst of the partial lockdown in the State, Comrade Philip Shaibu prayed that the Easter ends on a cheerful note to signal a new beginning devoid of new cases of COVID-19.
