Men of the Anti kidnapping And Cybercrime Unit of the Edo state police command has rescued the eleven-year-old boy kidnapped on 19th July 2021 in Akoko Edo local government area of Edo state.
The young boy, whose name cannot be mentioned due to his age, was taken into the forest around Ososo axis of the local government area by the kidnappers.
Based on the report lodged at the Ososo Police station, which was transferred to the Edo state police headquarters in Benin city, men of the Anti Kidnapping Unit of the Edo state police command under the directive of the commissioner of police, CP Philip Ogbadu, mobilised into the forest with a view to rescuing the victim.
The police identified the location where the victim was kept hostage and engaged the suspects.

One of the suspects escaped with serious gunshot injuries while they abandoned their unregistered motorcycle, which was used during the Kidnapping operation.
The police are currently in the forest on a combing exercise.
Contacted, Edo state Police Public Relations officer SP Bello Kontongs who confirmed the rescue, said strong efforts had been intensified to arrest the suspects now on the run.
