Governor Godwin Obaseki has approved the minimum salary for workers in Edo State from N40,000 to N70,000.
The governor announced it on Monday at the commissioning of the newly built state-of-the-art Labour House secretariat complex for labour unions in the State.
The building is located along Temboga Road, Ikpoba-Hill, Benin City, the State capital.
Recall that the federal government set up a 37-member tripartite committee on the national minimum wage in January to make an acceptable recommendation for Nigerian workers.
The committee that Vice President Kassim Shettima inaugurated is yet to formally submit its report four months later.
Edo State is the only State that has announced the approval of a new salary for its workers after the inauguration of the federal government committee.
