Speaking on behalf of elders of the Community, Elder Osaro Uwaifo lamented State Government’s negligence of several attacks allegedly carried out on the Community by Amagba People.

Narrating the recent ordeal, Elder Uwaifo said Two days ago in a commando-like operation at about 4 am hoodlums allegedly sponsored by Amagba community again attacked Okoroma community, the invasion was once again bloody with many casualties recorded and houses burnt.

At the wake of the attack, he said, security operatives led by the state Wabazigan made some arrest, guns and deadly ammunition’s were recovered from the sponsored hoodlums.

He maintained that the wanton killing of defenceless Okoroma indigenes by Amagba hoodlums is despicable, condemnable and harrowing.

Uwaifo said, “When are we going to see the end over the prolonged silent exhibited by Edo State Government

“Why has the Edo State Government decided to forsake us? When are our afflictions going to end? We don’t know why Amagba people want to eliminate us. The river naturally demarcated the two Communities. We are in Ikpoba-Okha while they are in Oredo LGA”. Yet they crossed over to our Community

These are the questions on the lips of every resident of Okoroma community in Edo State since the Communal clash between the warring communities.

However, the State Government through the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon Paul Ohonbamu said the state Government is aware of the Crisis and have put up plans in Collaboration with law enforcement agencies to halt the further killings as well as arrest those behind the heinous act.

Ohonbamu explained that with the COVID-19 Pandemic Spread the state government has channelled all its resources toward ensuring a safer society.

He assured that the attention of government would be turned to the troubled areas including Oke-Oroma and Amagba crisis in the coming days to close the gap between the two communities and bring about relative peace.

Well-meaning Edolites have frowned at the insensitivity of the State Government and security agencies to the plight of the people of Okoroma nation whose decimation cum desecration by the Amagba warmongers over the years far outstripped the victims of the five villages Amagba earlier conquered put together.

Some of the villages include the legendary UGBO, Evbukhu, Ogunmwenyin, Uhunvboke/Ago Uwagboe & Ogheghe.

Edo residents are bitter that the State Government whose primary function is to protect its citizens against any aggression is turning deaf ears to the cries of the community.

The palpable silence of the Edo state Govt over the unaccountable and inhuman aggression of Amagba land grabbers tend to lend credence to the conspiracy theory making the rounds that the Governor’s newly recruited campaign manager, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen is the one steering the ship.

Although he had denied having anything to do with the crises in the now and the past. But people have continued to point accusing fingers to him even though he claimed it was politically motivated.

This year alone Amagba has invaded Okoroma community no fewer than six times with many people left dead after each invasion.

The good people of Edo State are sad about the ignoble indifference of the authorities and the security agencies to the plight of the victims of the orgy of violence being allegedly unleashed incessantly on the people of OKE-OROMA NATION by Amagba people.
